On Thursday, Ola Electric announced a significant expansion of its electric vehicle portfolio with the launch of three new electric motorcycles and the strategic integration of its proprietary battery cells into its vehicles, set to commence in Q1 of FY26. The company unveiled the Roadster, Roadster X, and Roadster Pro, with prices beginning at Rs 74,999, Rs 1,04,999, and Rs 1,99,999, respectively. Additionally, Ola teased two forthcoming models, the Sportster and Arrowhead, hinting at more innovations to come.
Ola Electric Targets the Indian Motorcycle Market
Motorcycles dominate two-thirds of India’s two-wheeler (2W) market, and with Ola Electric stepping into this segment, the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is expected to witness a significant boost. Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CMD of Ola Electric, expressed confidence in the company’s potential to revolutionize the market, stating, “The integration of our battery cells into our vehicles, starting early next year, marks a pivotal step in our mission to accelerate mass EV adoption across India.”
Pioneering Battery Cell Development and Integration
Ola Electric is currently testing its indigenously developed Bharat 4680 cell at its Gigafactory, marking a crucial milestone in the company’s journey towards self-reliance in EV technology. The company showcased these advancements, including the Bharat 4680 cell and battery pack, the next-generation Gen-3 platform, and the latest version of its operating system, MoveOS 5, at the ‘Sankalp 2024’ event held at its Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.
Roadster X: The Fastest in Its Segment
The Roadster X, touted as the fastest electric motorcycle in its segment, boasts a peak motor output of 11 kW. It is available in three battery variants: 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh. The top variant of the Roadster X accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 124 kmph. With a range of up to 200 km, this model is poised to set a new benchmark in the electric motorcycle segment.
Roadster Pro: Pushing the Boundaries of Performance
The Roadster Pro, Ola Electric’s flagship motorcycle, is designed to deliver unparalleled performance and technological innovation. Equipped with a motor delivering a peak power output of 52 kW and 105 Nm of torque, the 16 kWh variant accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in a mere 1.2 seconds and achieves 0 to 60 kmph in just 1.9 seconds. With a top speed of 194 kmph, the Roadster Pro is set to redefine the standards for electric motorcycles.
Industry-Leading Battery Warranty
In line with its S1 scooter series, Ola Electric is offering an eight-year battery warranty across its entire motorcycle lineup. This warranty underscores the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, providing peace of mind to its growing customer base.
